Commissioned by the LTA Artwork Committee, which was set up in mid-1994. Ho Kah Leong, Chairman, plus Earl Lu and Brother Joseph McNally were among the first members of that committee. Dr Lu speaks: "We are an Eastern country, so it would be good to display art with an Oriental flavour". (ST, March 7, 1996) Still haven't seen it myself. This picture is from the MRT website.
